HARD WAY STUDIOS RETURNS AND PLANS TO RELEASE A COMIC TITLED ‘DOOR TO HELL’.
Horror comic gurus come back!
12-30-2011: Hard Way Studios owner Dwayne Biddix and Chris Carpenter are releasing more information today to do with their bringing Hard Way Studios back from a couple year hiatus. When asked why Hard Way Studios was put on hiatus in the first place Mr. Carpenter replied ‘we ran into some issues with publishers and financial issues and seemed to lose control of what we were doing so we decided to take a break to get our proverbial ducks in a row’. Hard Way Studios hasn’t released a title since the self-published release of Shelter. Most of the fans of this studio are fans of horror as that seems what these two guys are known for.
And that’s just what they are going to do. They said today that they had plans to release their first comic, titled Door to Hell, as a digital comic. Mr. Biddix says ‘We hope to be able to get our comics available at the ever growing comixology.com and probably a few others like drivethrucomics.’ After mentioning this it was also hinted at that after a series completes they may have plans to release the entire story in print as a trade paperback. They are conducting most of their news and information through tumblr at the address hardwaystudios.tumblr.com and this seems to be a good format for what they are trying to accomplish right now.
When we asked them what their first project was going to be about Mr. Carpenter replied ‘We don’t want to reveal too much right now, but the comic will be a mini-series about a haunting, in fact, about all three types of hauntings. You can see a preview of what Caedis looks like on our tumblr site right now and see for yourself what we have in store.’ I think we can all rest assured that with these two at the helms of the book we are sure to see something scary. They were then asked when they thought this comic would be available or be released and they both replied that it was still early in the development process so they didn’t have a concrete date for release yet but they both said to expect a zero issue to be released soon-ish that would introduce us to the story in a few pages and show us the kind of art we are expecting to see. We are being assured that this zero issue will be free to read for everyone. Mr. Biddix says ‘Chris and I are planning to do all the art on this first project ourselves, we are both writing and creating the project, I will of course be penciling it while Chris will be inking. As for the colors and letters we aren’t sure which of us will do what yet but that should be announced soon as well.’
This is very exciting news for past fans of Hard Way Studios and horror fans in general! Make sure to keep an eye out for more breaking news on this topic and more information on Door to Hell soon!
